Mercury and Venus, rapidly moving but remaining in the vicinity of the Sun, were often confused as the morning star and the evening star. Reddish, tiny Mercury was always difficult to observe, and has been visited by only two spacecraft due to its location so close to the Sun. The latest spacecraft is called, appropriately, Mercury Messenger.
